Providing safe, affordable and educational recreation opportunities that enhance quality of life and promote economic development.
In April 2007, a local group led by Jim Nielson, began negotiations to acquire Sleeping Giant, a nearby ski area that ceased operations in 2004. The foundation was created to improve and reopen this facility. In a few short years, the Sleeping Giant Recreational Area has already become an economical, family, recreation destination that promotes alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and many other winter recreational activities. These activities are all life skills that encourage coordination, strength training, and cardiovascular health among youth and adults. Our not-for-profit entity, headquartered in Cody Wyoming, is made up of local community leaders. Currently we operate Sleeping Giant Ski Area & Zipline, and have partnered with many other recreational groups in the area to further expand our mission! Interested in joining the board? We're always looking for passionate individuals who want to contribute to the vision and direction of Yellowstone Recreation Foundation. Contact yellowstonerecfound@gmail.com for more information on how to get involved. |
